Cities are living systems, and how we build, adapt, and inhabit them determines whether they survive. Arcause Spotlight 2.0 is where that conversation begins, in the city itself, with the focus on sustainability.

Arcause Spotlight is a series of small, immersive learning engagements for architecture and design students, young practitioners, faculty, and anyone who wants to engage directly with organisations working on the ground. The initiative is envisioned as a “living urban laboratory” where participants experience the city by walking through it, understanding its layers, and engaging with real contexts.

Spotlight 1.0 brought together a cohort for an intensive experience in Delhi. Spotlight 2.0 continues that spirit here in Kochi. On May 3, 2026, Ethos Foundation, in collaboration with IIID Kerala Chapter and EQUINOCT, invites you to the Kochi edition of Arcause Spotlight. 

• To bring socially responsible and impact-driven design to the forefront of urban conversations.
• To expose participants to socially responsible and impact-driven approaches to design, making these ideas accessible to all
• To provide visibility, legitimacy, and networking opportunities for innovators, practitioners, and grassroots organisations within the Ethos–Arcause universe.
• To amplify urban causes through experiential learning, public engagement, and cross-sector dialogue. 

Coastal Resilience & Urban Reality

Participants don’t sit in a room and hear about flooding; they walk through the city, read the landscape, and encounter the evidence of tidal stress embedded in the streets, walls, and waterways of Kochi.

The day combines a guided field walk through flood-affected areas with a deep dive into the SeaSight Resilience Model, a framework for understanding and responding to coastal inundation at a neighbourhood scale. Participants will also explore Textile Reinforced Concrete (TRC), a material innovation that offers new possibilities for flood-resilient construction.

The experience closes with a structured reflection with a space to process what was seen, ask uncomfortable questions, and begin to understand what role each person, regardless of their background, might play in how cities adapt.
