Gita Balakrishnan
Founding Trustee
Ar. Gita Balakrishnan, founder of Ethos, and founding trustee of the Ethos Foundation has walked across India and to Bangladesh to raise awareness of the role good design can play in changing lives. ‘Walk for Arcause’ is a campaign that aims to take thoughtful, empathetic and sustainable design ideas to the masses, focussing on the difference architects and designers have made, through their holistic interventions, in different spheres of life. Just as other architects build structures, Gita likes to build stories, minds, and ideas with absolute faith in the power of this unconventional journey to transform our Architecture, Construction, engineering and Design (ACED) Community.
Balakrishnan Subramanian

Balakrishnan S, an Engineer by training, worked in leadership roles in the areas of Manufacturing and Supply Chain in ITC Ltd and retired in May 2024 after 37 years of service.
Having personally witnessed two sudden cardiac deaths and the inability of his as well as other bystanders to provide CPR, he is on a mission to create awareness and training on CPR skills. He is now a certified instructor for Basic Life Support by the American Heart Association and has commenced his mission with conducting workshops in educational institutions and housing societies. With an estimated awareness level of only 2% in India, it is a huge gap that needs to be filled.
