Project ADaR – 24-25

The primary objective of this project is to make quality design accessible and affordable for all by addressing the educational infrastructure needs of the selected school from Chennai. Through affordable and inclusive design solutions, we aim to improve the school’s facilities, ensuring a positive impact on the learning environment.

To provide architecture students the opportunity to engage with a real-world project, fostering a deeper understanding of socially responsible design practices.

Outcomes

ACCESS TO AFFORDABLE AND INCLUSIVE DESIGN

Enhance the educational infrastructure of the selected school by implementing design interventions that provide affordable, inclusive, and sustainable design solutions, addressing critical challenges such as inadequate facilities, drainage, and safety concerns.

FOSTER COLLABORATION

Foster collaboration among architecture colleges in Tamil Nadu through our Arcause clubs, empowering students to engage in a live project that promotes community development and creates lasting positive impact through thoughtful, socially responsible design.

Need Based Assessment

September 19, 2024

The first meeting with 9+ Arcause club colleges in Tamil Nadu was conducted on 19/09/24 to introduce Project ADaR and what each college can work towards.

A need based assessment was conducted on 25/09/24 for Mambakkam, Pondur and Panruti Schools by 3 architecture colleges: Saveetha College of Architecture and Design, Mohammed Sathak A.J.Academy of Architecture and Papni School of Architecture. It was conducted to find out the challenges faced by the school and to select one school based on the immediate needs and challenges.

Site Documentation

November 6, 2024

Following the needs assessment on 25/09/24, Panruti school was selected among the three, due to its larger impact number of 621 students and 27 staff members and the need for immediate intervention.

A detailed Site documentation was done on Nov 6th, 2024 by two colleges: Saveetha College of Architecture and Design and Aalim Muhammed Salegh Academy of Architecture.

Design Workshop

December 11 and 12, 2024

A design workshop was conducted in collaboration with ArchitectureRed and Natraj and Venkat Architects on December 11 and 12, 2024, at the ArchitectureRed studio. Students from Saveetha College of Architecture and Design, Mohammed Sathak A.J. College of Architecture, Aalim Muhammed Salegh Academy of Architecture and young architects actively participated, contributing to the development of a detailed design. The workshop fostered collaboration and creativity in addressing the identified needs.
