SAaTH- Sustainability in Action and Thought
During her extensive journey across India, Gita Balakrishnan witnessed the immense consumption within the building industry and its profound environmental impact. From raw material extraction to construction and waste disposal, every stage leaves a lasting footprint—contributing to resource depletion, pollution, and climate change. The journey highlighted that conventional construction methods are unsustainable, and a shift towards more responsible practices is essential. To meet the needs of both present and future generations, it is imperative to adopt sustainable approaches that minimize environmental harm and foster resilience.
SAaTh—Sustainability in Action and Thought—embodies this vision by promoting sustainable practices across the architecture, construction, and design sectors. It encourages professionals and students to integrate eco-friendly solutions into their work while fostering a mindset focused on long-term environmental stewardship. SAaTh drives meaningful change by bridging thought and practice, empowering individuals to reimagine processes, innovate responsibly, and address climate challenges head-on, ensuring that every project contributes positively to society and the planet.
